2014 Youth Basketball
Come join us for our YMCA Youth Basketball Leagues! Deadline to register with no late fee is OCTOBER 31 but to attend all practices, register by Ocotber 24. Practices begin the week of October 27. Games run 8 total Saturdays between November 8 - January 17 with time off for holidays. See the info sheet on the Y's Sports page for the full schedule. Separate leagues for 1st/2nd graders (Netters) and 3rd/4th graders (Cadets). Leagues are coed. The Wilmington Family YMCA is the place for fast-paced basketball action! The focus is on learning and improving basketball skills and knowledge of the game. All games are officiated by caring & experienced referees. Players must be paid in order to be assigned a team.
Players get a custom jersey, player award, & certificate of participation. Netters & Cadets also get mid-week practices and 8 weeks of officiated games. Practice times are scheduled based on gym availability and coach’s schedules. Coaches get to pick their day & time!
Pathways Financial Aid program is available, allow 2 weeks for application processing before you register for this program. Pathways applications are available at the Y front desk and online here.
Teams are formed by request for coach, teammate, carpool, etc. All coaches must register online and pass a background check. All coaches are volunteers and we appreciate their time and effort!
Helpful hints on registration:
If you are on the Pathways program, are registering more than one child, or are a Y Member having trouble with your membership number being recognized, then register as a non-member and complete the application process. Once you reach the credit card payment page, click "Apply For Discount" button at the bottom. You will receive an email with a corrected price and a link to pay online. You can also pay at the Y front desk with cash or check. Players must be paid in full to be assigned to a team and to participate.
